The first game he played against Kensucky when he was a freshman was at UK's Memorial Coliseum. The fans called him racist names, threw lighted cigarettes in his hair and the refs fouled him out. Mears had a talk with him and told him that he had played right into their hands and they got him out of the game, just like they wanted to. Bernard swore that Kensucky would never beat UT again as long as he was at UT and they never did. He despised Kensucky. I hope he saw the game.
