I just finished watching Captain Marvel

Confused about the Tesseract. I thought it at the bottom of the Artic Ocean, and Stark found it.

But it shows up in this movie, which takes place in 95. Me so confused.

I am not a die-hard of Marvel movies, but I have seen them all up to Captain Marvel.

What am I missing?
