Want to get your guys thoughts on this.
I got to thinking today about when the SEC really starting becoming the premier conference in America. I know lots would point to the BCS championship era and the number National Champions that have come from the conference.
But honestly, I think it started few years earlier and with our beloved VOLS!
Tennessee honestly was the first school in the modern era that schedule those marquee games, i.e. Pig skin classic against later to be co-National champion Colorado, the early 90's games against National power Notre Dame , the first Thursday night game against Louisville, going out west playing UCLA and many Huge bowl victories from middle 80's to the first BCS champions.
honestly, was the first SEC team to take recruiting to a national level and honestly spread their brand across the nation.
Now , I get TV has played a huge roll too, but I honestly believe the success of what we see in the conference today really started with the early 90's teams of UT.
