inparticular the national media. There's not a chip big enough to place on our shoulders to lather up our kids if this was a more prevalent notion:

"Florida & Georgia talent wise are better than Tennessee...I don't buy that the Vols are a national title contender" - @CFBMatrix
I'm personally as confident as I've been since Peyton's junior year, but I'm just a little weary about the hype. Of course it has absolutely no bearing on how our kids approach camp, or how they prepare.
If there is anything close to a 100% certainty, it's that Butch's teams are prepared, and motivated for each and every opponent, and VERY seldom do they come out flat. They were flat at Mizzou two years ago in Dobbs first start ( at least I think it was his first start ) they were flat again early against Mizzou the week AJ and Williams got suspended, but really fought back, and had every opportunity to win that game. Our nickel got exposed in that game, and they were just a tad flat for Bowling Green last year in the opener. I think Martinez being suspended might have gotten them out of their comfort zone a little bit.
I'm not worried a single bit about the media hype giving us a false sense of superiority, but I think it might give Va Tech an emotional boost, as well as UGA. If we thump Tech, and come out of the first two weeks with no serious injuries, we may beat Gata so bad that they give up football, maybe all men's sports. But
the guys at College Football Matrix must be smoking the good shit, because this is none sense, If they had added something about us being just a few key injuries away from a possible disappointing year, I could buy it, but if we're healthy all year, Dobbs improves his passing just a little bit, and Shoop has the effect on the defense that we think he should, it's going to be a fun year.
