It's the special teams. Over the last few games, I've seen more penalties and bone headed plays on special teams than I think we saw the first 3 years under Butch. Whether it's a hold, illegal block in the back or a dumb play like McDowell made pushing the ball into the end zone for a touchback, we lost of a ton of that "hidden" yardage tonight and the last few weeks. We had to lose 100 yards in penalties, lost yardage gained because of needless penalties, not catching punts and not downing the ball at the 1. That adds up.
That's not absolving this staff and team from blame tonight. Even with all these injuries, we should have won this game handily. Just pointing out an area that not many people think about when addressing our injuries.
