I thought it would be fun for some of us on here to get some discussion going on downtown or info for people that are from out of town that are interested in what's going on.

It sounds like he's got some more articles on the way to go along with these two detailing other projects going on around the downtown area. I'm hoping that he does one on the South Knox Waterfront with the Regal building and the other construction (Lofts/retail) coming along. Interesting note: According to the article it looks like the 9 story Courtyard and Residence Inn will slightly add a new dimension to our small "Skyline" downtown. It'll be a lot more visible for people coming in from the East than it will be for people coming in from the West by the looks of it. I'm interested to see how that turns out. The design reminds me a little bit of the new Tombras building, but a lighter exterior. Hopefully it comes out as well. The new 5 floor Crozier building in the Old City and the 6 story Stockyard Lofts that are going up behind it are adding some new life to that area along with all of the street scaping that's going on Jackson Ave with the new sidewalks, roads and light fixtures. Add the 6 story Regal Square lofts/shopping going in next to the Mill and Mine and the North part of Gay St that ties in with the Old City is getting a major facelift and some major organic growth for the first time in decades. For me, it's really exciting to see us start to run out of the older buildings that we've been remodeling/repurposing downtown over the last 10 years and starting to see new multi level/multi purpose construction start to go up and add another level of character to downtown. Add recently remodeled Cumberland Ave and everything that's going on in downtown north by Schulz Brau, Elkmont and Crafty Bastard breweries and it's hard not to notice the rebirth that's going on. This guy is pretty excited about it.
