Instead of making forward progress non-reviewable at the goal line why don’t they

put a set time in seconds of how long the player with the ball isn’t making progress?

For example, say the rule is the player has to at least show progress within 3 seconds (or 2 seconds or whatever) on how long the player isn’t making progress forward before blowing the play dead.

Then, make it reviewable and use a timer/stopwatch on the replay to determine if the player was held up long enough.

You let the play run its course (similar to the forward pass or fumble rule where imo they should just let the guy score every time and let the play play out and can change accordingly once the review takes place).

I’m talking just on goal line plays. Not every single run where forward progress is called. Bc clearly a premature stoppage that could cost 6 points is much more critical than a run from the 40 in the first half would be.

Maybe a stupid idea but the entire goal of implementing replay is to take the outcome of the game out of the official’s hands as much as possible. Or at least that’s what I thought replay was implemented for.
