I really want to trust Butch on this one, but it's hard. In the US Army game the kid looked like a natural corner who could shut down opposing #1 WRs, and Shoop said early after he got to campus that he looked like a future first round corner. While on offense it's hard to see him taking many touches away from Jennings and possibly even Calloway if the latter continues to emerge. So his potential to impact a game on offense seems far below the potential to impact the game on defense. Maybe he'd be slaw as a corner, but why not at least give it a shot? He's said he felt more comfortable on defense, though I applaud his good attitude and willingness to commit to offense since that's what Butch wanted. Just can't understand why, when we desperately need improved play at corner, he wouldn't be given a shot there since we seem to have good enough talent at skill positions on offense.
Broken record, I know. But it just seems senseless to not give it a shot. He just doesn't look like an elite offensive player to me.
