Is he the next Peyton Manning or the next Tyler Bray?
IMHO, Eason is the next Tyler Bray. I know he is a true freshman and obviously his understanding of the game will grow in time but Eason is at this stage not showing much in the cerebral part of playing QB. He's got a lot of physical talent but is at least at this point playing QB like a high school kid only looking at one option and not really seeming to understand defensive concepts.
When Peyton was a freshman he clearly understood the game and just needed to have a greater understanding of the speed of the college game and knowing that he couldn't throw into some of the same windows that he could in high school. Bray and Eason (at the moment at least) never/don't really seem(ed) to understand the concepts. In contrast, Drew Lock, Drew Baker, and this year Jalen Hurts aren't Peyton (but who is) but they seem to understand the concepts both offensively and defensively and need or needed only to adjust to the speed of the college game. Hurts isn't ready to make all the throws and isn't where he will be at some point in his consistency and footwork but he doesn't look lost and locked in only to his primary read the way Bray and Eason seem(ed).
Just my thoughts. Feel free to agree or disagree and let me know your thoughts.
