1. We played terrific defensively.
2. We got wide open looks from three the whole game. Basketball is a game with a lot of variables, but ultimately it comes down to shooting. Teams that don’t make shots struggle to win, and we had one of the worst shooting nights in Tennessee history tonight.
3. We actually did have quite a few good looks in the paint but give TTU a lot of credit for contesting nearly everything at the rim. Fulkerson, Knamhoua James and Chandler all missed multiple quality looks at the rim.
4. We shot 50% from the FT line
5. Our best player was 4-13 from the field with 5 TOs. Chandler has to play better. They did have a great gameplan to keep him from the rim looks that he got over the weekend
6. TTU’s head coach is one of the best defensive coaches in basketball. I wasn’t very impressed with their overall talent but they were extremely impressive defensively.
7. About the only thing I can criticize Barnes for is not playing Powell more. I’ll just assume it was primarily a defensive-minded deal.
We have a good team. We will go as far as Chandler and our outside shooting allow us to go. Both of them were pretty awful tonight. Looking forward to bouncing back Saturday.
