But then again they anointed Dormady this time last year...
@Jesse_Simonton can't see a positive to save his life and nitpicks everything, and @Austin_Price let's whatever happens two minutes before color his entire analysis.
I don't think JG ended the QB competition by any stretch of the imagination, but to say he "triple bogeyed" his performance today is just not accurate; about as accurate as saying kids nowadays remember UT vs. USC Jr. in the 90s, please.
AP, you pointed out two potential picks that he threw today if the defense had played well. I thought they were calculated risks, honestly. The first, when Osborne (maybe Buchanon's) back was turned, I don't think he throws that if he thinks the defender isn't playing catch up. And, completion. The second, the throw over the middle with 3 seconds left in the game (Repeat: with 3 seconds left in the game), was behind Wolf but had just enough mustard on it. Sure, Sapp could have made a play, but he didn't because he was recovering out of the change of direction.
Then negative Jesse comments on the Palmer throw being a micro-second behind. It looked like a decent college throw to me. Was it Peyton, Brady-esqe, haha no. But I mean let's get real. A good college receiver makes that catch. See, e.g., Marquez Calloway v. Georgia Tech (making plays on the ball int he air). Palmer is taller than Osborne, he needs to high point the ball, and he needs to make a play. The ball was catchable; it's in the endzone; needs to be caught.
I'm just really at a loss for who we're comparing JG to here. The perfect QB? Peyton? Brady? Didn't see the negatives that two of the Mods, the Negative Nancy and Mays Whisperer, purported to see. Saw a pretty decent performance today that set a baseline for what the QB competition will be.
I also don't think there's ANYTHING JG could have done this spring to have ended the QB competition. Just click over to any other spring game, and I think JG looks just as good as those guys in this game today. JMO. Didn't strike me as bad performance; looked like a good spring game.
And Mods, don't worry, I'm packed for Chile.
