For all of this talk about how absolutely terrible this "system" was for Hurd and how much it held him back, wouldn't you say it's pretty miraculous that he was able to average 4.7 yards per carry and was like 400 yards away from becoming our all time leading rusher in it?
If this system was as terrible for him as you say, if he had played in the magical "I-formation" he would've averaged 10 yards a carry and would've already tripled Travis Henry's record by now right right? According to half of Volquest Hurd is apparently the second coming of Barry Sanders, Eddie George, and OJ Simpson combined
I just don't get this logic that an offensive system was seriously holding back a RB who averaged almost 5 yards a carry and was on the verge of becoming a prominent football program's all time rusher while playing in it.
