Mark Stoops has built his name by beating teams like TN, Florida, and LSU when the programs are not only at their worst but when the coaches are getting fired. Both times he’s beaten Tennessee was a year we fired our coach. Last year LSU and Florida fire their coach. He hasn’t beaten a team with a pulse or beat a team that didn’t underachieve in the year.
If he was at any major program and had the first three years like he had at Kentucky he’d already been fired. He’s benefited from a patient administration and stability with his program. While other programs are firing coaches chasing Georgia and Alabama he’s waited in the weeds. So many programs with coaching turnover switching systems and losing players Kentucky hasn’t dealt with that and beats the program while they are down. Not while they are good but while they are down. Kentucky is a product of other programs not being good, they are not a product of beating good teams. Florida has a pulse and Ole Miss has a pulse they will lose. Meaning if any of those teams have a winning record this year Kentucky will lose those games. They don’t beat teams with winning records. Now people bring up Penn State and Iowa last year. Penn State had a chance to go to the playoff and wet the bed. They beat Ohio State that year and didn’t even go to their conference championship. They underachieved did not care. Iowa had one of the worst offenses in all of college football. You basically had two offenses that were exactly alike which equal boring game. We literally would have beat Iowa by like 30 points.
Im just speaking facts. They are not winning double digit games this year. They lost their wide receiver that had over half their receiving yards. They lost players on the defense which was an average defense last year. Their stats were propped up by crappy schedule and their slow offense that soaks up clock. Which allows defense on the field very little. Opposite for us. They lost their offensive coordinator and replaced him with somebody who’s never been a coordinator. They think because he’s a position coach in the NFL he’s just awesome. We’ve had many of those come through our program and means crap. They are running team that barely throws the ball and their quarterback had 13 interceptions last year. Their new coordinator plans on throwing it more which is not how their team is built and I predict more interception for Levi’s future. Then they’ll go back to running the football because Mark will demand it.
People get so crazy about Kentucky without actually looking at who they beaten in the past to get to where they are at. They have beaten nobody. Once the normal teams that are good in this conference just start winning a little again they’re back to where they were. Won’t be hearing much from Kentucky after this season.
