To date in the SEC: Georgia 1, Alabama 2, A&M 4, LSU 13, Arkansas 14, Kentucky 15, Missouri 16, Miss. State 20, South Carolina 21, Tennessee 28, Auburn 35, Florida 39, Ole Miss 41, Vandy 42. Let's see how it finishes.
A couple of surprises Ole Miss at 41 and Florida at 39.
Now you go through at look at the recruits and see what the differences are: Are you filling the needs for the team. Can you tell the difference between a 3 star and 4 star lineman. The key on offense do you have a quarterback that can pass and run, along with do you have an adequate backup if your number 1 quarterback gets injured. Do you have a running back that can run but also block to help protect the quarterback.
Defense has really changed: you need linebackers that can run to protect the corners and stay with receivers. Tough job because they also have to be able to track the mobile quarterbacks. Defensive backs have to be bigger and faster to keep up with the bigger and faster wide receivers.
As I go through the actual recruits one of the areas to look at is how the top teams every year recruit the talent they need to plug up weaknesses due to experience and depth.
So far in one year of recruiting, I think our coaches are doing a better job in evaluating the current talent and using multiple sources to fix weaknesses on offense and defense. They are also doing a better job of coaching up the talent that we have.
If we hold the coaching staff together, we are definitely heading in the right direction. Looking forward to Tennessee's future.
