This whole shat show starts during the Title IX debacle... so I'll start there and then you can correct me on the chain of events.

Nov.-ish 2015 - Hart refuses to settle early in Title IX lawsuit for approx $1M. The nightmare PR campaign against UT begins.

March 2016 - Rumblings that Cheek is out start to grow.

June - New "hierarchy of power" is assigned to the BOT. The AD now reports to them.

July 2016 - Tennessee settles Title IX lawsuit for 2.5M. Hart is kept out of the negotiations.

August 2016 - Hart is told he's out before the season starts. @Brent_Hubbs writes powerful article about just making the "easy hire... 90 miles down the road."

Oct. 2016 - Cheek Leaves.

Nov 2016 - Davenport is hired as Chancellor

January 2017 - Still no AD.

In my opinion, not hiring a new AD (even d by announcement only) before hiring the new Chancellor was a major mistake. If you've given the BOT the power then that hire should have been made FIRST.

Blackburn should have been named in October as the successor, the week after Cheek was gone.

It's like none of these, very smart, people know how to execute a freaking plan.
