There's no reason that we shouldn't clean up a lot of these guys. Of course, we have to put a good product on the field, but it seems the relationships we've made early with the top players in-state should go a long way in helping us reel in a deep, talented class.

2018 Composite Top 10 for TN
1. Cade Mays, OL- commit
2. Greg Emerson, DT- likes us; we've got Trey and Cade working on him. Worried about Bama & the big schools out that way.
3. Max Wray, OT- UGA
4. Brendon Harris, S- likes us; close by in Chattanooga; losing TK & Evan plus upgrading with Coach Charlton should be big there
5. Camron Johnson, WR- likes us; we've got a little BA pipeline going; seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
6. D'Andre Litaker, DT- we've seen him recently and he was in for the Florida game; the need for true DTs is absolutely there. Coming off injury though.
7. Brant Lawless, DT- we need DT; from Bituli's school. Came to FL and Bama games this year.
8. Maxwell Iyama, OT- a bit of an unknown similar to Eze this class; we've offered and have Wells on him per 247. I'm sure they'll want to see him in person at camp before pursuing further.
9. Alontae Taylor, WR- commit
10. Gavin Schoenwald, TE- another BA guy who likes us; seems to be invested in the move from QB; taking one TE this class and he seems like a solid candidate.

Others: Master Teague, Jaylon King, Justin Oden, Tykee Ogle-Kellogg

The whole top-10 is in the top-300 overall in the composite rankings. It's heavy on the LOS where championships are won in this conference. We seemingly have very solid inroads with the entire group besides Wray (possibly Iyama). This in-state class has a sort of 2014 feel to it with a lot of talented guys who appear to be very open if not inclined to becoming Vols. I believe it would be advantageous to make Wells the full time OL coach and adding Hoke as the DL coach would pay dividends with the talented DT in this class.

A very talented foundation for this class can be laid without even leaving the state. We'd have to leave the state to find a QB, pass rushers, an elite RB, etc., but this is a huge spring for our staff in terms of piecing this 2018 class and it starts in-state. IMO, failing to corral this talented bunch in-state would be devastating for the future of the program and Butch's future.
