To your knowledge, has a college football program ever messaged the following relative to recruiting?
"We're The University of XState". We represent XState and our program will rise and fall with kids from our state. Except in rare circumstances, we're not going to recruit out-of-staters. We don't need them to be great."
And in so doing, the program would hope to build a fence around its state, creating greater-than-ever pressure for in-state kids to stay home.
I'm not suggesting that strategy for us. But it might be interesting for a University of Texas, or the Gators, or even UGA.
