"One of the legendary stories from the 1998 championship season is Athletic Director Doug Dickey coming into the locker room at Vanderbilt after the Vols had completed an undefeated regular season. Dickey told the coaches and the team 'congratulations----and that as of right now their asses were going to the Citrus Bowl.' It was simple – fail in the SEC Championship game and the accomplishments of the regular season would be washed away."
