I posted about Sears' decline the other day and read an article about its CEO Eddie Lampert. Apparently he is one of those "drive accountability by fear" type guys. To the point that terrified senior managers coach their subordinates about what words to say and not to say when presenting to Lampert.
Anybody manage that way or work for someone that did. I worked for a GM like that once (actually got along with him because I played the game) but he was actually a terrible leader. He didn't get accurate on the ground details because people bullsh**ed to keep him happy. He was one of those ego driven climb Everest guys that was probably abused as a kid.
