You also may want to look at his resume before bitching and moaning, he is a hell of an Offensive coach, just because he was at CSU with Bobo doesnt negate that.

I can't say I follow other teams position coaches all that closely, but UT fans have been ready to be done with Friend for a while now.

I will admit I’m not an expert on Friend as a coach. No idea. However, almost every coach in this business has been fired at some point. They almost all get recycled eventually, so if TN doesn’t want him, that is not necessarily disqualifying.

So...apparently the rumor is Friend wanted out because Pruitt has a belief that every guy on the line should be coached to play every position. That’s a good principle but a lousy practice. Centers aren’t going to be tackles and tackles aren’t going to be centers and I don’t need to play a spot to understand their role and how it fits together. Friend didn’t agree with this but had to go along with the program which if true is just a disaster.

Still not a good look getting Bobo’s boy but it’s possible his performance at Tennessee is not indicative of his ability.

I'm not sure how one becomes the second highest paid OL coach in college football without having a career that warrants it. Last year Tennessee had one of the most improved OL in the country. Not sure what happened this year but one poor year does not define a career.
If the headline had been ...Beamer hires second highest paid veteran OL coach in college football to coach at South Carolina. Would that change the "perception" of the hire?

Anybody can see what Friend is doing. He knows there is a good chance they get run at UT next year. So he can trade that dumpster fire for this one. Self preservation as at USC he will get at least to the third year before any heat starts to build
