I tested positive on June 30th and I let the management company know because I was at our bar/restaurant two days prior. I figured it was the right thing to do even though I know they didn't meet the CDC's guidelines for an exposure. But I wanted them to be self aware in case they developed a cough or something. I have self isolated for a total of 16 days so far (since onset of my fever on 6/28) and haven't had symptoms in a week. For all intents and purposes, I'm allowed in the world again.
Fast forward to today. We received a letter that our reservation Thursday night was cancelled because they want my entire family to provide a negative test result before we can use our amenity. Even though this is far beyond the CDC's recommendation of "Ending home isolation" requirements. I work for a local Fire Department and work hand in hand with my state's department of health. Ironically, I'm the Battalion Chief of EMS and recently set up a COVID Testing Site in our city, along side the FLDOH and local county health department.
My wife is livid. First of all, why do they think they should be privy to my personal health records. Second of all, my fire department is ok with me working because I self Isolated so long but they say I can't have a burger by the pool. Third of all, no way I'm making my 8 and 11 year old kids take a swab to the brain just to appease their ignorance.
This will be the last time I let someone know when I'm sick.
