Not sure why it always has to be hedge/rotate/recover these days.
I'm from an older school of either a) going above/under/or straight through the screen, or b) just straight up switching.
Less confusion and guarantees somebody is always on somebody. Even if we're straight switching on those screens, wouldn't we rather have a guard sticking on a 3 point-shooting 5 man at the top of the key harassing the $hit out of him. Especially with our small lineup on the floor where JJJ or Aidoo is pretty comfortable switching onto a guard until they can communicate and switch back.
It's like everyone in college hoops these days has transitioned to a more complicated system of defending ball screens and it doesn't have to be that way. There are so many moving parts to hedging and recovering. It straight up killed us last night. It's why we lost.
