There are three things I think should happen to stop the defense from faking injuries;
1) the player that goes out must remain out until the next change in possession. It might be 1 play or 10. This one I struggle with a little because there are legit injuries within the play. So maybe it’s anyone that is not in the play. Either way they must sit more than one play.
2) don’t allow wholesale substitutions. Only substitute 1 for 1
3) do not allow coaches on defense to talk (huddle) with their team. Make the team stay at midfield and coaches on the sideline. As a coach on a team that ran a nascar offense an injury was a great time for coaches to regroup and make adjustments.
