I had to work last night so I was only able to listen to Bob on the radio and that was only in short burst in between work. It is because of this fact I can't make whole scale judgement on the game.
There is no excuse for being so predictable all the time. Our offense is so very lacking in creativity that it's not even funny.
Our coaches mind set is; here is our scheme, the plays are the same, the formations are the same, same keys every time. I truly believe that these coaches believe that our offensive scheme is so solid, that all we have to do is line up 11 on 11 and we will win if it's executed correctly.
The problem with that is our 11; especially in the two and three deep aren't going to win enough one on ones to be successful.
BOTTOM LINE: Good coaches are flexible and put in wrinkles and plays to put their players in the BEST position to win their one on ones. Sometimes a player just has to step-up, but a coach's job is to KNOW and EXPLOIT the defensive weaknesses.
This is NOT happening!
PROOF: We play too close to everybody we play. Their coaches are doing such a great job scheming their defenses, that we can't move the ball. What games we've won is only because the players, played their hearts out to overcome.
SOLUTION: Change! We need an OC that is simply handed the keys and allowed to do his job. Not a buddy, not a puppet, but a real honest to God OC that can assemble a supportive cast to his own likening. Butch needs to be the one in charge of the team but needs to turn the O over to someone new. Let that guy tweak the system and recruit the way he sees fit. It has been a major success at; dare I say it, Bama. I hate them, hate CLK and little Nicky, but success is success.
It's time to release these players from this system of predictability!
