a friend of mine just returned from Nashville. Told me how hipster, new country it is. He asked me which new country artist I really liked.
Me: "I love the new ones like Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Dwight Yoakam."
I knew what was coming next..."what about Brad Paisley Luke Bryan and Keith Urban?"
I enjoyed immensely my setup question almost as much as my reply: "Who?"
Throw in Chris Gaines and you've got the Dusty Terd Beatles.
As for the hipsters...I see those jackasses sweating over in Brooklyn here. Isn't conforming to nonconformity ironic? I guess anoth way to look at it...with all the flannel, canvas, skinny frames, and scraggly looks with beards...it's always easy to get a pickup game of "Civil War Battle reenactment" going. We need a few guys on this picket line. You boys will do.
I told him: "Trust me, when the stuff hits the fan, old footprint Tennessee will be snacking on the bones of new Tennesseean."
