Of these guys, 70+% had prior head coaching experience before going to the program where they got their title.
Interestingly, all of those who had no prior head coaching experience (Jimbo, Coker, Dabo) were not coordinators plucked from another successful program. All of them were promoted from within after their boss was fired or resigned. Fulmer would fall into that category as well, if we went back a few more years. Orgeron had prior HC experience AND was promoted from within.
Bob Stoops is the only example I can recall of a program plucking away a coordinator and then winning a national title with him.
