Unless something changes (& I don’t think it will), look for players to use the portal as a way to shop their value. Caleb Williams is the start of what I think will become a tidal wave. Players will enter the transfer portal every year if for no other reason than to determine their value in what is essentially now free agency for NCAA athletes. There is literally zero cost and zero risk for top level players to do so since no school is going to tell a Caleb Williams: “If you enter the portal, you can’t come back.”
