Not firing him now is delaying the inevitable and a mistake.

If I am Dipietro the first thing I do is tell Butch is that we will waive his buyout if he wants to leave. If he doesn't want to leave then we need to cut ties now. I don't want to hear that we dont have the people in place or the money to do so.

If it came out that Butch Jones pulled a Petrino would we say we can't fire him because we don't have an AD? Does anybody really believe we don't have the money? This is the University of Tennessee. Of course we have the money

Butch is a dead man walking and everybody knows it. He will struggle to hire top quality assistants and recruiting will continue to suffer more so than it already is. The longer we wait the tougher it will be for his replacement to get things back on track.

Does Butch even want to be here? He has 10 million reasons to stick it out through next year but will we be getting 100% effort out of him? I just don't see any positive in delaying the inevitable.

With that said we are stuck with him. Just don't see the above happening which is very depressing.
