Is there an immediacy effect in having "the last visit"? Sure, human nature--and the nature of human memory--being what it is. It's even more pronounced in some off the flightier prospects; those whose heads will always be turned by the last pretty girl who asks them to the dance.

But the early signing period has changed the landscape of recruiting. The window of opportunity for prospects to take a full slate of visits without it interfering with their high school seasons is a lot smaller, and unless you're name is Marilyn Chambers, you can't just "make it fit".

More and more kids are going to want to visit early and you're not going to be able to say no if it looks like you won't get one of the coveted late spots. It's going to be real interesting to see how the concept "last to visit, first to mind" shakes out in this new model.
