This Freeze thing is starting to take on a life of its own the way that Grudenmania did after Butch was fired. And we saw how that worked out for Currie. I don't think UT, and especially Fulmer, will hire Freeze. And regardless, for the stability of the program Fulmer should be out ahead of all of this with comments and interviews. Even if you come out now and the season winds up with 3 more losses, you can change course. But given the circus that's going on in the social media work, it wouldn't hurt Fulmer to do a couple of spots with Chris Low, VQ/247 and another outlet to say something like "listen, this program was 0-8 when Pruitt took over. The worst season in the history of TN football. We all want it to be a steady climb but this season is unlike any other season. Coach Pruitt is building this the right way and while there's no doubt we're disappointed in our record, we continue to do the right things that will have a positive effect on our record."
Again, whether or not Fulmer thinks that is true, thinks half of it is true or none of it is true, he really should be act as if this isn't a rudderless ship. We have a lot of recruits that are going to be signing paper while this season is still going. The last thing they need is to wonder if they're signing with a program that is going to get rid of the staff they're signing with. This is an unusual year and I think Fulmer needs to act like an AD in this situation. It may be an empty "vote of confidence" but silence just makes it worse.
