Isn't that what some posters were basically saying as of one week ago. LOL Now they are eating crow and just biding their time until someone decommits or we go a while without anyone new giving us their verbal.
I keep saying this and saying it, you have to trust our coaches especially someone with the proven experience as CJP who has been part of a winning team everywhere he has gone.
I'm not aware of any other team in the SEC whose fans are quicker to turn on their coaches than UT fans. CJP has proven he knows how to recruit AND WHO to recruit.
UT does NOT have the built in home grown talent living close to Knoxville that many other teams enjoy so our coaches have to work harder and longer hours to get the same level of recruits that other coaching staffs take for granted like GA, Fla, Bama.
About 40% of the talent is in Memphis which is much closer to other SEC teams and gets every bit as much coverage in the newspaper as UT. There was more players who came from Texas High Schools in the 1st round of the NFL draft than any other state and by a W I D E margin.
Once we get UT back among the upper ranked teams it should be much easier to recruit than it is now but we'll always have a tougher row to hoe than many other teams.
Lastly, a lot depend on how well other teams are doing that are in our target rich areas. When Clemson and NC are down that allows us to pull a lot of talent from NC and Upper SC that are within a decent driving time from Knoxville. It hurts that KY is doing way better than they ever have before but luckily that won't last long. Hopefully Ga will begin to get frustrated at not willing a NC and fire their HC and hire another dumbass like Ray Goff and Jim Donnan again so we can raid GA of even more of their best talent. LOL
