Here is my take from many moons ago regarding lightweight OLmen... Now all you have to do is search "wacko" and you'll find my take.

I think it's about a 10% chance that Tatum or Neihaus ever contributes here. They are just too skinny.

The last OL recruit we took that weighed around 250 (excluding Lovingood bc he's a longsnapper) was Ray Raulerson. Literally ever other OLman has come in around 295 or more. These guys are 250 and 260.

Asking them to pack on 20% of their body weight, get stronger, get quicker and perfect their technique is just not a great strategy. In my opinion.
Yep... and adding 35lbs to a 270 frame is only adding 12% additional weight to get to 305. Where adding 50lbs to a 255 frame is 19.6%.

If this was a great way of going about recruiting than everyone in the SEC would be doing it. The fact is that it's not and nothing speaks to that more than us having two of the three lightest OLmen in coming in.

They may end up being great. Hell... first rounders. Both of them. I'm not cheering against them, but pulling out five or six guys (one who was an undrafted kid in 2014 out of Boston College) in order to prove how we are actually recruiting OLmen at a high level (despite what logic, stats & current recruiting practices from other successful SEC schools says) is stupid.
You're right. My bad. Silberman was 256. He was also the #71 player in the country (not #45 ranked at the position).

Look. I get what you are saying. Is it possible for them to be great? Yes. It's possible. Do they have a higher likelihood of not panning out? Yes. That's why other schools aren't taking kids this size.

These guys rank in the 5th percentile in size for OLmen in this SEC recruiting cycle. They are tiny for the position and that is not normally a great thing when beef is required in the trenches.
