Ole Miss true freshman defensive end Charles Wiley has been suspended from team activities after getting arrested on a domestic violence charge. According to the Clarion-Ledger, Wiley was booked into Lafayette County Jail on Monday night and the school acknowledged his arrest on Tuesday.
"We are aware of the situation and recognize the proper authorities are responsible for the matter," coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement. "Charles is being withheld from all team activities while the process moves forward. We take incidents like this very seriously and will make decisions once the course of action is complete."
Wiley was a four-star prospect and early enrollee from the 2016 class. The Stockbridge, Georgia native drew praise from the Ole Miss coaches for his raw, athletic ability in spring practice. The Clarion-Ledger noted that Wiley was expected to redshirt the 2016 season, though his status with the program could be in jeopardy depending on the details surrounding his arrest.
