IMO they have a 2 game stretch that is going to determine if they go to the NCAAT or not. A sweep and they are NIT bound again without a doubt.
Tuesday- Alabama in Memphis
Saturday - Tennessee in Nashville
They are currently 5-4. They have 2 what would be considered "solid" wins. They beat VT on a neutral court. They beat St Louis at home. If those teams struggle during conference those wins won't be solid anymore so we will see about those.
Dropping to 5-6 heading into their conference play is death.
Houston, Cincy, SMU and Wichita State are all really good. Probably best case is going 4-4 in those 8 games. Which gives them 10 losses. 10 losses in a non power 5 conference without any marquee wins means NIT. Their chance for a "big win" comes from beating Houston which looks very very doubtful. That of course means they run the table with the rest of their conference as well.
Their margin for error is zero when they lose to Alabama on Tuesday. When we beat them they will miss the NCAAT in all 4 years of the Penny Hardaway experiment.
