We're heading out there in about 3 weeks, staying Friday & Sat in Denver on the front end, then will be in C Springs 2-3 days on the back end. Looking for recommendations on good places to stop for 2-3 days each in the mountains during the other 9-10 days. We can do some mild hiking on the "bunny trails" (wife has knee issues), but are basically interested in soaking in scenery and getting out of the Carolina heat.
I've been skiing in Summit County, Vail, Steamboat and Winter Park many times but have never been up there in the summer. I'm assuming we'll spend 2-3 days in Keystone or Breck, but am not familiar with the most scenic drives and best towns to experience in the rest of the mountain areas. I have looked at Estes Park/RMNP on line and it looks like it would be a good stop for a night or two. What about Aspen or Telluride?
Any advice?
