Vietnam Veterans Day recognizes Vietnam veterans on the anniversary of the last US troop withdrawal from the Republic of Vietnam (March 29,1973) ending America's direct military involvement in the Vietnam War.
Vietnam Veterans Day was established by a Presidential Proclamation signed by President Richard Nixon on Feb.26, 1974. Vietnam Veterans Day is to honor not only the 58,479 who gave their lives, but also those who honorably served their country in military service during this time.
We had a very fine observance and program this morning at the Mountain Home Cemetery in Johnson City.
Meant to post this morning but have been very busy.
Thanks to all who have served and those who continue to serve.
