This is a small, six episode sci-fi mini-series that I'm wondering if people have watched. I loved it, and would love to discuss it with you guys if you get a chance to take a look.
The premise of the show is in 1961 President Kennedy authorizes a secret project for an inter-generational trip by humanity to another galaxy. The story surrounds the crew and their insular society en route to the new galaxy.
History buffs will love the show; it's also a great thought experiment for how American society would have developed absent the cultural revolution of the 1960s.
