For the programmers on the board: What is the best language to learn, especially if you are a beginner.
I'm not looking for any career switch, or to make this a profession, just feel like it's a skill I should have.
I would eventually like to have enough knowledge to create web or app based programs that can work with other desktop based programs potentially. That is more related to a project I'm working on, but I need a good foundation first.
Also, do you have a preferred text editor and compiler for a Mac?
Early leaning is towards Python.
