Male, 40, otherwise healthy.
A quick x-ray last week has revealed evidence of degenerative disc disease at L2-L3, L3-L4, and L5-S1. I have an appointment with the spine specialist in a couple weeks. I pretty much already know the routine from here. Here's my question: Has anyone here had sustained success with a conservative regimen of meds+PT?
Symptom-wise, I have general soreness when I play golf, typically starting somewhere on the back 9. I simply can't play two days in a row anymore (which sucks). Plus, about 4-5 times per year, I experience a fairly severe lower back spasm, to the point of losing sleep. Muscle relaxers and steroids almost always knock it out in 1-2 days, but I'm avoiding steroids at the moment due to COVID, and the frequency of these episodes is increasing.
I'm interested to hear how any fellow suffers have dealt with the condition, and to what degree of success. Thanks!
