Something to change it up a little, and since I'm a diehard Sox fan, and with Ortiz setting the record last night for most HR's by a player over 40 in a season (25 HR's, 118 RBI's, and he's retiring.....smh, ridiculous).
His stat line for a 20-year career:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/ortizda01.shtml
539 HR
1,762 RBI
career .286 BA
career .932 OPS
Led the league in HR & RBI in 06'
Led league in RBI in 05'
17th all time in HR's
22nd all time in RBI
29th all time in OPS
But the things that stand out to me are the late-game heroics that don't show up on the stat sheet that are undeniable. I could go through a laundry list of games where he was absolutely clutch, but what made him more impressive was he was ALWAYS clutch in October when it mattered.
