Getting ready to sod my yard on Amelia Island Fl and it seems like those are my two options. I am thinking zoysia because of better drought tolerance, weed control, less maintenance and a resistance to chinch bugs which killed the existing lawn that was St Augustine. However, it's more costly and you just don't see much of it used here. Looking at the cost difference and the advantages it really seems like a no brainer to go with the zoysia but am I missing something? It's seems odd that I don't see it more often here. The landscape supply store was big on zoysia but the landscapers I have talked to so far were really noncommittal on which to use. What say the board experts?
