Most every mention of the greatest hoops player ever begins and ends with MJ. Some will mention Lebron and because he's the all time scoring leader, you occasionally hear Kareem.
But I don't get the infrequency of mentions for Chamberlain. His scoring average was the same a MJ's. He averaged 24 rebounds per game to MJ's (app) 7. And Chamberlain only had one fewer assist per game vs. MJ.
Hey I get that Wilt's teams lost a lot of NBA finals games to Russell's Celtics, but those Celtics teams were loaded...and they had one of the best coaches of all time. Because of my age, I remember almost nothing of watching Chamberlain but statistically, his career would seemingly make him the GOAT.
Insights anybody?
