As most know, there was a horrible bus crash in Chattanooga this year where 6 kids died. While this isn't even close to the only accident that occurs, it led to Tennessee seeking to pas a seatbelt law for buses

I get it, seatbelts can save lives. But the question is, are we creating more problems at the expense of "fixing" one.

What policies AND procedures will be implemented to ensure all kids use seatbelts? Will there be aides on the busses?
What policy and procedures will be in place if students don't use seatbelts? Will be busses not move if 1 kid says I'm not wearing one? Will the kid be kicked off the bus? Will there be a hands on by aides to belt them up or remove them?

The above is as important I'm my mind as concerns in the article. What if seatbelts are used and a bus wrecks? Can an adult be expected to help kids get out of their belts if a bus wrecks or turns over? What if adults are dead? What if there is a crash where water submersion occurs?

It's a tough discussion. I have littles who ride the bus. There's no easy answer, but I'm not sure seatbelts are the answer. At least not until some questions are answered.
