I was flying from St Louis to Augusta today (connecting in Atlanta), and my flight was delayed over an hour due to the incoming flight being late, and then other issues.
By the time we land in Atlanta, my connecting flight was already descending in Augusta.
Now I’m not too irritated by the missed flights. Things happen, I understand that.
At this point I am offered a “discounted” hotel rate for $75 and rebooked the next day for a 2 pm flight. That doesn’t work since I’m flying in to help my wife load up our house to move tomorrow morning. The kicker is that the hotel room cost $75 to book online.
I asked if they could give me a rental car, and they said no. They could put me on a shuttle. So I go to the baggage terminal and sure enough, my bag isn’t there. Fast forward to lost luggage, they said they were keeping my bag somewhere else at the airport for the 2 pm flight the next day they previously booked me on.
I’m confused at this point, because they just offered me a shuttle and cancelled that reservation. I let the lady know (and man did I feel bad for the customer service reps, they were taking some tongue lashings from some nasty Georgia fans for just doing their jobs) that I needed my bag because I was taking the shuttle to Augusta.
She proceeds to tell me it would take a couple of hours to locate and get it to me. Well in a couple of hours, the shuttle I am supposed to be taking will be half way to Augusta.
I just left the damn bags at the airport to go on the flight tomorrow. I’ll drive to the airport and pick them up from baggage claim as if I flew on the plane.
My mind is blown at how bad Delta mishandled this and said they couldn’t do anything for me other than offer a shuttle that got me to my destination 5 hours later than I was supposed to (without my luggage).
Anyways, rant over... tldr, I know.
