I've been with DirecTV for 6 years and have loved it until about a year ago when they "upgraded" my boxes. Since then I've had a lot of pixelation, frozen channels, whole home doesn't work correctly, and DVR just skips several recordings. I've had 3 service calls in the past 4 months, they've moved my dish, replaced the main genie, but it's still not working properly. They have offered to let me out of my contract with no cancellation fee.
All that to say, is it worth switching to Dish? I'm not in a rural area at all, but between 2 cross streets, where nobody will offer service for some reason. It's less then half a mile from Pellissippi, but there is no option for cable. I refuse to go Uverse, because AT&T is only a step above Comcast, and they are now partnered with DirecTV anyway (blows my mind as to why Direct did this).
I get the UT alum aspect, the money given to the university and all that stuff. Put that aside though, because they are getting all that money whether we use the service or not...are you guys with Dish satisfied? I always thought it was inferior until recently when I noticed a few family members that have it. Just curious on your thoughts. I'm assuming that Direct's willingness to let me out of my contract with zero penalty AND a reimbursement on unused service means they have no hope for fixing the situation...
Sorry for the long post, just trying to make an informed decision.
