OT: Serious question for attorneys

What would possibly compel you to defend a guy like this? I understand due process but I just cannot comprehend putting up a fight for this guy. Do you hope to get him off on a technicallity?

I read earlier in the trial that the defense attorney wanted to aggressively cross examine the mother...... The defendant actually intervened. I just don’t understand.....
