Heading back to the Sanibel/Captiva region again this summer...Plenty of snook on the beaches during the summer in some areas along w trout and reds in the Pine Island sound and in the passes. That said...what do you all use? Last summer, I used Berkly Gulp Alive 3" shrimp in pearl white and new penny. Those picked up plenty of trout and a few cats. I used Berkley Jerk Shad 5" in pearl white...that picked up snook in the passes along with trout. We have caught jacks on curly tails as well. Also DOA shrimp do well. Anyone have anything to add to the list for that area? We fish primarily by sight and blind casting from the beaches on the sound and GOM sides. I also throw a fly rod in as well. Use an 8 wt(medium sinking clear line) w clousers, DT specials, and schminnows primarily. Last year was a decent year, but we struggled a bit compared to normal years. Likely the tides and moon were "off" - meaning not enough water moving.
