We have a black lab mix that has always had some level of anxiety it’s whole life. She is about 6 years old and otherwise seemingly healthy - never had any issues from vet checks, up to date on all shots, eating and drinking fine, normal bowel movements.

every night between 3-4am she wakes up in our room and starts panting and pacing to the point it wakes us up. We always let her outside when this happens and she takes off like she’s going after something in the yard (nothing is there). Night before last she woke up and my wife took her out to the living room to lay down with her and she said she ran all over the house and up the stairs panting and drooling.

last night she did the same thing but in order to get us up she put both paws on our bed and was shaking so bad it woke me up thinking we were having an earthquake.

what kind of anxiety could be causing this sudden behavior? What do I need to do to correct it, or even just lessen it?
