2019 simulation

The Trump administration from January to August 2019 simulated a series of pandemic outbreaks from China and found that the U.S. government response was "underfunded, underprepared, and uncoordinated"...
A briefing was given to the United States Congress in December 2019
of some of the findings from the exercise, including the conclusion that the U.S. could not speedily manufacture certain medical supplies to cope with demand, because many of these items were imported. In response to the problems illustrated in the simulation,
Trump issued an executive order to make flu vaccines more readily available and of higher quality, and he provided additional funds for the pandemic threats program in the HHS.
[57] White House economists published a study in September 2019 that warned a pandemic could kill a half million Americans and devastate the economy. The study specifically urged Americans not to conflate the risks of a typical influenza and a pandemic.[58]

Congress knew this, yet they were shocked in Jan-Mar. What were they doing when we needed them? Hope it was worth the cost to our 330 million citizens.

Changing subjects a bit, looks like the simulation as been validated.
