As the season has went along we have had our worst fears confirmed in many ways. Injuries forced us to play many players that were not ready. What has bothered me more than anything is we are not seeing these younger players improve as the season has went on, especially our defensive players. We have a multitude of very talented players on that side of the ball that have not grown here. I know you will miss on some guys but not near the level that we are.
Watching Vandy last night and even the past few weeks they have looked like a completely different team than day 1. Their young team has improved and grown as the season went along, where is that development for our team? We have not improved, hell we have gotten worse. We can't line up, tackle, or even keep from fumbling. Our O line development is laughably inept, how in the hell can they take 4-5 star guys one after another and waste their talent? Defensive line and the running backs are a couple of the few of the only positions that have produced and developed our players.
At the end of the day it is sadly obvious that Butch and Co. are in way over their heads. We paid for a Cincinnati coach and staff and that's exactly what we've got. We are about to see our mediocre recruiting class take a nose dive. Players come to SEC schools for 1 reason and that's to have their talent developed enough to get drafted. Sure we will have some kids drafted this year, but I would bet they could have went anywhere and made it on talent alone. You get what you pay for and we are seeing that now. I just hope we send Butch packing before the roster gets any worse.
